Dear Alpha Epsilon Officers, Advisers and Members:
Greetings from the National Executive Committee of Alpha Epsilon! We hope that your summer has been productive and restful. Now that the school year has begun once again, we wanted to make you aware of some of the changes at the national level and how they pertain to your local chapters. The following items are discussed in this newsletter: (1) outstanding chapter award winners, (2) highlights from the 2003 annual meeting including the new deadline for the 2004 awards application, (3) initiation procedures and (4) Alpha Epsilon paraphernalia.
1. Outstanding Chapter Awards
Congratulations to Virginia Tech for winning the $400 Chapter of the Year Award, and to the University of Kentucky for taking the $250 second place award. Please note that the winning chapter from last school year will be ineligible for this year’s competition.
2. 2003 Annual Meeting
The meeting minutes in their entirety, as well as photos, can be found on-line at www.alpha-epsilon.org.
It was suggested that inactive
chapters would find it helpful to view a list of activities that other chapters
regularly take part in. Thus, I am asking each chapter president to send
me a brief e-mail
Next year’s award application will be due April 1, 2004. The earlier deadline was chosen because of the lack of competition for the awards in the past. Hopefully, this new due date will be more accommodating to those chapters that want to apply.
3. Initiation and Certificates
Please send requests for certificates and proof of payment to Kelsi Bracmort at least 2 weeks before you need them (address and email are listed below). After the initiation, you should send the names of the initiates and the one-time national dues ($10 per initiate) to Richard Willoughby (address given below). If you have any questions about this process, don’t hesitate to contact one of us.
4. Alpha Epsilon Paraphernalia
At the national meeting
this past July, it was decided that Alpha Epsilon will pay the set-up fee for
Alpha Epsilon jewelry. For more information about purchasing lapel pins
Sincerely,
National Executive Committee of Alpha Epsilon
