Dear Alpha Epsilon Officers, Advisers and Members:

Greetings from the National Executive Committee of Alpha Epsilon!  We hope that your summer has been productive and restful.  Now that the school year has begun once again, we wanted to make you aware of some of the changes at the national level and how they pertain to your local chapters.  The following items are discussed in this newsletter:  (1) outstanding chapter award winners, (2) welcome to our new National President and National Vice-President/President Elect, (3) procedure for initiation and certificates, and (4) Alpha Epsilon jewelry.

1. Outstanding Chapter Awards

Congratulations to Virginia Tech for winning the $400 Chapter of the Year Award, and to Cornell for taking $250 second place award.  The $200 most improved chapter award went to the University of Arkansas.  You will be able to look to our website, alpha-epsilon.org, for more details about the award winning chapters, by the end of this month.  Please note that the winning chapter from last school year will be ineligible for this year’s competition.

2. New National President and National Vice President/President-Elect

Kelsi Bracmort is the current National President.  Kelsi is a third year doctoral student in the Agricultural & Biological Engineering Department at Purdue University.

Russell Persyn of Iowa State University was elected as the new National Vice President/President-Elect for Alpha Epsilon. This is a four-year term, two years as Vice President and two as President. We appreciate Russell’s commitment to the society and we welcome him into the office.  Russell is currently a doctoral student in Agricultural Engineering and Civil Engineering at Iowa State University.

3. Initiation and Certificates

Please send requests for certificates and proof of payment to Kelsi Bracmort at least 2 weeks before you need them (address and email are listed below). After the initiation, you should send the names of the initiates and the one-time national dues ($10 per initiate) to Richard Willoughby (address given below).  If you have any questions about this process, don’t hesitate to contact one of us.

4. Alpha Epsilon Jewelry

At the national meeting this past July, it was suggested that Alpha Epsilon order jewelry for chapters to purchase for its members.  Please contact Kelsi via e-mail with your chapters’ input regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

National Executive Committee of Alpha Epsilon
